HONOLULU, Hawaii (HawaiiNewsNow) - Honolulu police have arrested a man accused of striking a woman with a tire iron in Mapunapuna Wednesday morning.
Officials said it happened on Ahua Street around 1 a.m.
According to police, a 34-year-old man and 47-year-old woman got into a fight. That’s when the man then took the tire iron from the woman and hit her with it, officials said.
Bystanders came to help the woman, but the man fled. He was eventually arrested for assault.
Paramedics treated the woman and transported her to the hospital in serious condition with a deep cut to her neck.
Police said both the victim and the suspect are homeless.
