HONOLULU, Hawaii (HawaiiNewsNow) - Customers eager for their favorite Japanese food from Shirokiya Japan Village Walk will have to wait a few months more.
In an update posted to their website, management of Shirokiya said their business closure was being extended until at least March 31 as the conditions of the pandemic linger in the community.
“To reopen our business and to assure the safety of our employees and customers, we must make a tough decision of either changing our business concept drastically or waiting until the pandemic is over,” the update said.
Shirokiya underwent a major rebranding and relocation to the current Village Walk in 2016. They made food vendors their focus, offering an open seating experience.
The Village Walk was home to dozens of vendors from ramen shops to takoyaki, bakeries and even a bubble drink stand.
They were all forced to close shop when the pandemic took hold on Oahu, and have been closed ever since.
