Forecast: Incoming fronts to interrupt the trade winds

Trade winds will be disrupted through the week

HONOLULU, Hawaii (HawaiiNewsNow) - Light to moderate trade winds will continue Monday, bringing a few passing showers for windward and mauka areas. An approaching cold front will disrupt the trades Tuesday, giving way to afternoon sea breezes and nighttime land breezes. The front will bring an increase in showers Wednesday and Thursday before dissipating across the islands. Another front may approach the islands near the end of the week.

Surf for north and west shores is forecast to fall below warning levels overnight into Monday morning before another arriving swell pushes waves back up to advisory heights late Monday into Tuesday, with another swell Wednesday. A warning-level swell is possible for the upcoming weekend. East shores will remain small all week due to light or no trade winds. South shore surf will also remain small, but could get a small boost midweek. A small craft advisory remains up for most coastal waters.
