HONOLULU, Hawaii (HawaiiNewsNow) - The Rainbow Warriors basketball team suffered their first loss of the season on Saturday, falling to UC Riverside 70-68.
In game two of a two game series versus the Highlanders, Hawaii and UCR would go back and forth until the very end, culminating with a tie game at 68 a piece with less than a minute left on the clock.
UCR’s Arinze Chidom’s layup with 2 seconds left in the game would seal the deal for the Highlanders, handing the ‘Bows their first loss of the year — moving to 3-1 on the season.
UH’s Casdon Jardine went off Saturday night for the home team, knocking a game high 26 points and nine rebounds, along with a perfect 4-for-4 from 3-point range.
Despite the outstanding performance, it wasn’t enough for UH to secure the clean sweep against the Highlanders, after taking them down 88-83 on Friday.
The ‘Bows return home next week to face Big West newcomer Cal State Bakersfield in a two-game series starting on Friday — tip off from SimpliFi Arena at Stan Sheriff Center is set for 7:00 p.m. Hawaii time, broadcasting on Spectrum Sports.
