HONOLULU, Hawaii (HawaiiNewsNow) - The OIA officially announced on Tuesday the cancellation all fall and winter sports, including football, for the 2020-2021 school year because of the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, OIA officials said.
A statement released by the OIA confirmed that these seasons will not be conducted at all of the OIA-affiliated schools on Oahu which were, until now, merely postponed with the hopes of being able to play later this academic year.
In addition to football, the OIA’s decision to cancel the fall and winter seasons impacts the following sports:
- Air riflery
- Cross country
- Canoe paddling
- Girls volleyball
- Swimming and diving
Some schools began notifying their athletic departments of the cancellation on Monday morning.
