HONOLULU, Hawaii (HawaiiNewsNow) - The Rainbow Warriors volleyball team was named number two in the American Volleyball Coaches Association preseason poll Monday morning.
The ‘Bows are coming off of an impressive 15-1 2020 season record before the coronavirus pandemic halted UH’s momentous season.
UH rivals, BYU was the unanimous number one ranked team in the nation, with a 17-1 regular season record — their lone loss coming from the ‘Bows back in March of 2020.
With the pandemic still ongoing, Hawaii plans on playing a Big West conference-only schedule in the spring — the official schedule has not been released yet.
The NCAA granted an extra year of eligibility to spring athletes who were affected by the pandemic shutdown, so the core of the UH team that made the impressive 2020 run are looking to be back for the 2021 season.
