HONOLULU, Hawaii (HawaiiNewsNow) - The Bale Sandwich & Vietnamese Food in Kihei was shut down last week after an inspection by the Department of Health.

Inspectors with the Food Safety Branch hit the establishment with a red placard after discovering a roach infestation in the kitchen.

A customer notified the DOH after finding a roach in crispy noodles purchased from the restaurant.

Inspectors later found 40 to 50 live roaches on disposable pans, food packages, prep chill units and cabinets. A small roach was also seen on vegetables inside the prep chill unit.

On Tuesday, a follow-up inspection was conducted, and after a deep clean and extermination of the establishment, they were allowed to reopen.
