HONOLULU, Hawaii (HawaiiNewsNow) - A bicyclist was critically injured Tuesday night after getting hit by a pickup truck in Kalihi.
The crash happened just after 7 p.m. at the intersection of Nimitz Highway and Kalihi Street.
HPD says the 48-year-old cyclist southbound was not wearing a helmet and was crossing against a red don’t walk signal when he was hit.
The driver of the truck, a 58-year-old man, wasn’t injured. Police say it doesn’t appear speed, alcohol or drugs were factors on the part of the truck driver.
Police did not say if anyone would face charges or a citation. The highway was shut down for several hours for the investgation.
