20,000 gallons of waste water spills at Kona’s Kailua Bay

KONA, Hawaii (HawaiiNewsNow) - A wastewater spill resulted in roughly 20,000 gallons of sewage spilling into Kailua Bay in Kona.

The Department of Health reported the spill Saturday around 12:30 p.m.

Officials said a line in the area broke, resulting in the spill.

Signs have been posted. The public is urged to stay out of the water until given the all clear.
