New Japanese cherry blossom trees to be planted in Manoa

HONOLULU, Hawaii (HawaiiNewsNow) - City leaders on Friday will be planting new Japanese cherry blossom trees in Manoa.

It's all part of an effort to find the best variety of cherry blossom trees to survive and thrive in Hawaii.

Honolulu Mayor Kirk Caldwell will be there, along with City Councilmember Ann Kobayashi and botanist Dr. Tetsuo Koyama.

The planting will happen around 10 a.m. at the Manoa Valley District Park.
