HONOLULU, Hawaii (HawaiiNewsNow) - Although Bellator 235 was suppose to be headlined by veteran heavyweight contender Josh Barnett making his promotional debut, it was a local boy who stole the show.

Just minutes before Barnett was scheduled to fight Ronny Markes in the main event of the evening, he was strongly forced to pull out at the advice of the Hawaii State Boxing Commission.

Bellator CEO Scot Coker made the announcement less then half an hour before the fight was scheduled to ensue.

Hilo’s Toby Misech was the scheduled bout before as he was set to take on Erik Perez and essentially ended up saving the show.

Misech hit Perez with a stone cold left hand and followed it up with a vicious series of punches to end the fight and the night in dramatic fashion.

Misech gets back into the win column after a decision loss against ex-champ Eduardo Dantas and ended Perez’s five-fight winning streak.

The full results from Bellator 235 are posted below.
