HONOLULU, Hawaii (HawaiiNewsNow) -A flash flood watch has been posted for parts of the state ahead of some unsettled weather.

The National Weather Service says the watch will be in effect from late Wednesday afternoon through Wednesday night for Kauai, Oahu and Niihau.

Forecasters say trade winds are expected to lighten Wednesday as a front mixed with an upper level disturbance moves closer to the islands. The chance for rain and thunderstorms will increase and stick around into Thursday.

Rainfall could be heavy in some areas. Additional alerts may be posted as needed.

This latest impending round of severe weather comes after severe thunderstorms hit Oahu, last week. Residents woke to the early morning storm and light show in the sky Friday.
