Workers allowed to return to Pier 38 businesses after suspected gas leak

HONOLULU, Hawaii (HawaiiNewsNow) - A suspected gas leak at Pier 38 triggered evacuations of several Honolulu Harbor businesses on Thursday afternoon.

First responders were called to the scene near Uncle’s Fish Market about 12:20 p.m. Thursday after a worker reported hearing a hissing sound coming from a 500-gallon propane tank.

Firefighters isolated the tank and evacuated surrounding businesses as Hawaii Gas conducted an assessment.

By 1 p.m., workers were allowed to return.
