HONOLULU, Hawaii (HawaiiNewsNow) - A pedestrian who was critically injured last month in a crash in Kalihi has passed away, Honolulu police said.

The crash happened around 9 p.m. on September 19 at the intersection of North School Street and Likelike Highway near Kamehameha Shopping Center.

A 67-year-old female driver was traveling southbound on Likelike Highway when she collided with the unidentified male pedestrian who was crossing the street from west to east, according to police.

The 67-year-old female had the right of way with a green traffic signal when the man attempted to cross the roadway in a marked crosswalk against the do not walk signal, police said.

Authorities are still investigating.

At this time neither speed, drugs, or alcohol appear to be contributing factors to this collision.

This is the 39th traffic fatality in 2019, compared to 49 during the same time last year.
