KANEOHE, Hawaii (HawaiiNewsNow) - Police said a motorcyclist was hospitalized after crashing on the H-3 Freeway eastbound Saturday night.
The emergency call came in around 8 p.m. near the Kamehameha Highway off-ramp.
Police said an 18-year-old man was driving the motorcycle at a high rate of speed.
“As the motorcyclist neared a bend in the roadway, it lost control and subsequently struck the pavement.” HPD said in an update on the incident.
The motorcyclist was wearing a helmet. He was taken to a hospital in critical condition.
During the investigation, drivers were diverted onto Kamehameha Highway.
Speed appeared to be a factor, police said, but it is unknown if drugs or alcohol were also factors.
