KUNIA, Hawaii (HawaiiNewsNow) -The driver of a motorcycle involved in a bad crash on Kunia Road Monday afternoon has died.

The Honolulu Medical Examiner confirmed his death and identified him as 24-year-old Cory Jackson.

His passenger, a 22-year-old woman, remained hospitalized in ‘extremely critical condition’ at last check.

It happened around 3 p.m. on Labor Day.

The two were riding on a 2006 Honda motorcycle. The driver was speeding and overtaking other vehicles, police said.

The pair then crashed into the rear of a 2005 Chevy van that was waiting to turn left onto a farm access road.

They were thrown from the bike and emergency crews rushed to the scene.

Both on the bike were taken to the hospital in ‘extremely critical condition.’ Jackson died shortly after.

Police closed Kunia Road in both directions for about two and a half hours as they investigated.

HPD said speed was a factor in this collision. It is unknown if drugs or alcohol are also factors.
