HONOLULU, Hawaii (HawaiiNewsNow) - Lifeguards have posted warning signs at Makaha Beach after a surfer reported that his board was bitten by a large shark.

Officials said the surfer reported the incident around 7 p.m.

The shark was estimated to be about 10 to 12 feet in length.

Lifeguards have been monitoring the area on Monday morning.
