HONOLULU, Hawaii (HawaiiNewsNow) -A judge has tossed out felony theft charges against a former charter school principal.
Laara Allbrett was charged in 2017 for allegedly making personal payments using money from the now-closed Halau Lokahi Public Charter School.
The payments included nearly $12,000 to her daughter and $6,700 to a psychic healer on Kauai.
The trial was supposed to start last year, but the state asked for multiple delays, saying it was not ready.
According to the Star Advertiser, the judge dismissed the case in April this year.
Allbrett, 64, headed up the charter school which had recurring financial difficulties. In 2015, the state revoked the school’s charter.
