Sailor who died in attack on Pearl Harbor finally laid to rest in hometown

HONOLULU, Hawaii (HawaiiNewsNow) -A sailor who died 77 years ago in the attack on Pearl Harbor has finally been laid to rest.

A funeral for Seaman 1st Class George Naegle took place Saturday in his hometown of La Crosse, Wis.

His body was among those recently identified using DNA testing.

Family members and Navy officials attended this weekend’s ceremony.

“We’re able to bring them home and give the proper respects to their family in their final resting place. It’s an incredible honor to be able to do that.” LCDR Ben Hofer of the U.S. Navy said.

Naegle was buried with military honors.
