HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - High pressure northwest of the islands will strengthen very gradually as a trough northeast of the area moves northeast and weakens.

High pressure aloft will build over the area and keep the atmosphere stable through the week.

The winds will remain light enough for local land breezes and sea breezes today. The trades will push a few showers ashore over windward areas, mainly tonight and early tomorrow morning.

The sea breezes tomorrow will produce some afternoon clouds and showers. The stable atmosphere will keep rainfall light.

A high surf advisory remains in effect for south facing shores of all the islands until early Tuesday, with surf expected to drop to near or just below advisory levels for Tuesday.

The south swell driving the elevated surf will gradually lower through the remainder of the work week, with only small surf expected by Saturday.

A new southwest swell arriving Saturday may give surf another bump Sunday into early next week.
