Jim Leahey reflects on the storied legacy of Dick Tomey

HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - There aren’t many people in the state of Hawaii more qualified to talk about the history and impact Rainbow Warrior football has made on the islands than Jim Leahey.

The legendary, retired broadcaster spent part of his Saturday morning sitting on his front porch with the Hawaii News Now sports team to share some memories of the late Dick Tomey, who died Friday night after losing his battle with lung cancer.

In addition to offering his condolences to the former Hawaii football head coach’s family and friends, Leahey reflected on the success of the Warrior football team on and off the field and the culture he created on the University of Hawaii at Manoa campus.
