HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - Some key roadways will be closed Sunday for the Honolulu Triathalon. So if you’re planning on driving in to town or Waikiki, you may want to plan ahead.
The Department of Transportation has scheduled lane closures on Lagoon Drive, Nimitz Highway, and Ala Moana Boulevard for the Honolulu Triathlon Sunday.
The closures will begin at 4 a.m. and likely last until 10 a.m.
Closures stretch from Atkinson Drive intersection with Ala Moana Boulevard and continues to the Lagoon Drive intersection with Nimitz Highway.
“The eastbound lanes of Ala Moana Boulevard will be closed from Atkinson Drive. Crews will pick up cones and open lanes as the triathletes progress along the course and expect the route between Nimitz Highway and Ward Avenue to be opened no later than 10 a.m.,” HDOT said in a news release.
Sand Island Access Road will be accessible from the H-1 west viaduct, but those wanting to go past Sand Island Access on Nimitz are being urged to used the H-1 or Dillingham.
