Good news, ‘Hawaii Five-0’ fans: CBS renews popular show for 10th season

HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - Two big network shows shot in the islands have been renewed for new seasons.

On Thursday, CBS announced it was renewing “Hawaii Five-0” ― for a 10th season ― and “MacGyver” ― for a fourth.

Both retro reboots have garnered loyal fan followings, not least of which because of their gorgeous Hawaii backdrops.

Variety magazine says “Hawaii Five-0” averages 7.3 million live viewers, while “MacGyver” averages 6.1 million. Other CBS dramas renewed Thursday: “Bull,” “Madam Secretary,” “SEAL team,” and “SWAT.”

“MacGyver” and “Hawaii Five-0” air back-to-back on Friday nights on KGMB.

The original “Hawaii Five-0,” starring Jack Lord as Steve McGarrett, ran for 12 seasons from 1968 until 1980. The original “MacGyver,” meanwhile, on the air from 1985 to 1992.
