WAIANAE (HawaiiNewsNow) - All lanes of Farrington Highway in Waianae are back open for the Friday morning commute after Board of Water Supply crews completed repairs to a 16-inch water main.

Waianae Intermediate School will also reopen Friday after being closed the day before.

The broken water main was first reported on Wednesday afternoon on Farrington Highway fronting the Waianae Public Library, prompting the closure of an eastbound lane.

The break, which flooded a nearby park, was also responsible for an outage affecting 18 customers, including the Waianae District Park.

BWS said repair work was completed before 11 p.m. Thursday.

Another 8-inch water main break was also reported around 4:20 a.m. Thursday on McArthur Street, between Imipono Street and Waianae Valley Road. Repair work was completed by 8:30 a.m. and all lanes were reopened.
