HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - The stage is set for Saturday’s NCAA Tournament Championship match as Long Beach State defeated Pepperdine in four sets Thursday night in at the Walter Pyramid, setting up Hawaii vs. Long Beach State for the fourth-time this season.
The first two times the Warriors and 49ers faced off, LBSU got the better of Hawaii on their home floor, beating the ‘Bows in five-sets twice.
In Honolulu during the Big West Tournament, however, the Warriors edged out a five-set thriller to not only win the conference, but also earn an automatic bid into the NCAA Tournament and receive a first-round bye as the top overall seed.
Saturday’s title match takes place Saturday at the Walter Pyramid in Long Beach. First set is set for 2 p.m. HT and will be broadcast live on ESPN.
