Wahine tennis upsets No. 1 UC Santa Barbara, advance to Big West title match

HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - The No. 4-seeded Rainbow Wahine tennis team upset top-seeded UC Santa Barbara, 4-3 in the semifinals of the Big West Tennis Tournament at Indian Wells Tennis Garden on Saturday.

The ‘Bows had a 3-0 lead over the Gauchos before UC Santa Barbara launched a comeback, but senior Maayan Sela came up clutch for the Wahine to pull off the upset.

Hawaii (10-9) has now strung together seven-consecutive wins. UC Santa Barbara, the regular season champions, fall to 14-8 overall.

The Wahine advance to its fourth-straight Big West Tournament Championship Match against Long Beach State at 6:30 a.m. HT.
