HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - The Rainbow Wahine softball team took down UC Riverside 2-0 Friday evening at the Rainbow Wahine Softball Stadium thanks to a shutout from Brittany Hitchcock.
Hitchcock improved to 15-7 overall and 7-2 in conference, striking out four batters in the win.
Brittnee Rossi launched a solo home run over the leftfield fence to put the ‘Bows up early, followed by a Nicole Lopez run after Alyssa Sojka drove her home on a single.
UC Riverside starting pitcher Melanie Olmos threw the first 4.1 innings, allowing two runs on five hits with a walk and two strikeouts.
The two teams will square off in a series ending doubleheader on Saturday beginning at 2:00 p.m. HT at the Rainbow Wahine Softball Stadium.
