HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - Former Rainbow Warrior receiver John Ursua was selected by the Seattle Seahawks with the 236th pick in the seventh round of the 2019 NFL Draft earlier today.
Ursua was the third receiver taken by the Seahawks in this year’s draft. In fact, Seattle traded back into the seventh round specifically to draft Ursua by trading a 2020 sixth round pick for the 236th overall selection today.
In three seasons at the University of Hawaii, Ursua recorded 2,662 yards on 189 receptions including 89 catches for 1,343 yards and 16 receiving touchdowns this past season.
The 5-feet-10, 175-pound Ursua will be primed to fill the void of veteran slot receiver Doug Baldwin, who may be forced to retire due to injuries.
