HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - The Rainbow Warrior baseball team took down San Diego earlier this afternoon in a 5-2 victory on the road at Fowler Park.
Hawaii improved to 17-20 on the season thanks to a committee approach from the bullpen.
Li’i Pontes got the nod on the mound for the ‘Bows but lasted just two innings after surrendering four hits, a walk and one run. Six other pitchers saw action for the Warriors including closer Dylan Thomas, who came in for Colin Ashworth in the ninth inning after Ashworth allowed a home run.
In all, Hawaii’s pitching staff surrendered 11 hits while the ‘Bows recorded just nine. Nevertheless, they were able to make their hits count.
Shortstop Maaki Yamazaki scored two runs on two hits while Ethan Lopez continue to be a difference-maker for the ‘Bows, picking up two hits and two RBIs on the day.
The ’Bows resume Big West play with Friday’s matchup against Cal State Northridge.
