HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) -Honolulu police are investigating an accident in town that left a 49-year-old man dead.
According to police, the crash happened on Young Street around 11:20 p.m. Saturday.
Police said the man was heading east at a low rate of speed as if he were coming to a stop when the passenger side of his vehicle hit the curb.
The man then veered into the westbound lane and hit a parked, unoccupied vehicle.
He was taken to a hospital in critical condition where he later died.
“At this time neither speed, drugs, or alcohol appear to be contributing factors to this collision,” HPD said.
No one else was injured in the incident. It is unclear if the man suffered a medical condition while behind the wheel, but the investigation is ongoing.
This is Oahu’s 19th traffic fatality of the year compared to 18 this time last year.
His name has not yet been released.
