Wahine fall short against Cal State Fullerton on the road

HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - The Rainbow Wahine softball team (27-11, 8-2 Big West) fell on the road at Cal State Fullerton in the series opener, 4-2.

Senior pitcher Brittany Hitchcock suffered the loss, snapping her six game-win streak Saturday night at the Anderson Family Field in Fullerton, California.

Hitchcock fell to 14-6 overall and 6-1 in conference. She allowed four runs on six hits with no walks and a strikeout in a complete game.

The Titans scored one run in the first inning thanks to a Janelle Rodrigues sac-bunt before CSUF scored three more runs in the second inning to extend their lead to 4-0.

In the top of the fourth, the Rainbow Wahine got on the scoreboard thanks to a Cheeks Ramos sac-fly which drove in Alyssa Sojka.

Callee Heen led off the seventh inning with a solo home run over the right-centerfield fence, her 13th home run of the season.

The two teams will square off in a series ending doubleheader on Saturday, April 20 beginning at 11:00 a.m. HT.
