Hawaii to take on Long Beach State in Big West title game after sweeping UC Irvine

HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - It’s the showdown volleyball fans have been waiting for as the Rainbow Warriors will look for revenge against Long Beach State tomorrow night in the Big West championship game after Hawaii took down UC Irvine in straight sets this evening (25-17, 25-16, 25-18) in the tournament semi finals.

The Anteaters (18-11) were no match for the Warriors as Hawaii (16-2) put it’s foot on the gas pedal and never looked back.

Maui native Colten Cowell was a key factor for UH, recording nine kills while Rado Parapunov hit a sizzling .857 from the floor with 12 kills on 14 attempts.

While the Warriors are hoping to exact revenge on the 49ers, taking down Long Beach is easier said than done.

LBSU put an end to Hawaii’s 25 match win streak just a week ago and will look to spoil the last home game of the season for the Warriors Saturday night at the Stan Sheriff Center. First serve is set for 8 p.m. HT.
