HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - Honolulu police have launched an arson investigation into a fire that broke out Thursday afternoon at the Office Depot in Kalihi.
More than 25 firefighters responded to the Dillingham Shopping Center at around 3:15 p.m. When they arrived, they found thick black smoke pouring from the store and a shelf on fire.
The blaze was extinguished just after 4:20 p.m., and no injuries were reported.
Fire investigators said Friday that they determined the fire had been intentionally set.
Officials said the building did not have a working smoke alarm system, but it did have fire sprinklers. The damage was estimated at more than $104,000 to the structure, and $350,000 to its contents.
