HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - Michelle Wie made her return to the golf course this afternoon at the 2019 LOTTE Championship in Ko Olina, but things didn’t go her way through Round 1.
Playing for the first time since aggravating a wrist injury that she had surgery on last fall, Wie, 29, finished +5 through 18 holes after struggling mightily over the back-nine.
On Tee 11, Wie was in noticeable pain after her swing as she began to experience pain in her right hand, the same hand she has had medical issues with over the past year.
Wie told the media after her round that while she did experience pain in her surgically-repaired hand, she still intends to play through the pain in Thursday’s Round 2.
Wie is set to tee off at 8:17 a.m. HT.
