HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - The City Council has agreed to award a Honolulu police lieutenant some $550,000 to settle a decade-old lawsuit.
In the suit, Officer Deeann Koanui claimed she was harassed and retaliated against after she complained about falsified written test scores for five police recruits.
She said her supervisor — who is now the department’s police chief — fixed the results to help ease staffing shortages.
At the time, Chief Susan Ballard was a major.
