HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - The Rainbow Wahine basketball team fell in to UC Irvine 53-48, in a much anticipated in Bi West match-up.
The loss was just the second the Rainbow Wahine (11-14, 7-5) suffered over their last six games, and drops them to the No. 5 spot in the Big West Conference standings.
UC Irvine (17-6, 7-4) has now won three of their previous four.
UH came into the contest ranked top in the Big West in free throw shooting percentage at 73.2 percent during the season.
Tonight was a different story from the charity strike, the 'Bows shot just 8-17 for 47 percent, the Rainbow Wahine also turned over the ball over 20 times for the third straight game.
Jadynn Alexander led the team with 10 points and five rebounds while senior guard Leah Salanoa added a team-high eight rebounds, along with seven points.
UH will next face Big West front-runner UC Davis this Saturday at noon Hawai’i time.
The Rainbow Wahine are the only conference team to defeat the Aggies all season.
