HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - Speed is believed to be a factor in a crash Thursday that left a 47-year-old motorcyclist dead.
Police said the crash happened about 8:10 a.m. when the operator of the motorcycle, a Waipahu man, was traveling westbound on the H-1 Freeway near the Waipahu off-ramp.
The motorcyclist rear-ended a vehicle traveling in the same direction, and was pronounced dead at the scene.
It’s unknown if drugs or alcohol were factors in the crash.
Police closed multiple westbound lanes near the H-1, H-2 merge, snarling traffic for most of the morning. The lanes on the H-1 Freeway finally reopened about noon.
