HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - Police officials on Kauai say a visitor from South Korea was killed Sunday night during a traffic accident in Koloa.
The woman, identified as 56-year-old Seon Young Jo, was transported to Wilcox Memorial Hospital in critical condition before being airlifted to Oahu for treatment. She died on Monday, authorities say.
An investigation into the crash is still ongoing, but the woman appears to have been a passenger in a vehicle that drove into an intersection without stopping. The vehicle was then hit on its passenger side by a passenger bus owned by a local tour company.
The vehicle, a Nissan Versa, was dragged for several feet before the bus came to a complete stop.
The driver of the Nissan, also a visitor from South Korea, was also airlifted from Kauai to the Queen’s Medical Center, where she remains in critical conditions.
None of the occupants of the tour bus were injured in the accident, police say.
