Wanted Wednesdays: Designer sunglasses theft suspect misses probation hearing

HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - A woman tied to a 2013 theft of designer glasses is wanted by Honolulu police and CrimeStoppers.

Julie Ake, 39, recently failed to appear for a HOPE hearing to modify probation. A $20,000 cash only bench warrant was issued for her arrest.

Ake is tied to a 2013 incident at the Waikiki Freaky Tiki Tropical Optical store.

According to police, Ake walked in, selected a pair of Gucci sunglasses, and fled the store without paying. The glasses were valued at $325.

She was later arrested for second-degree theft.

Ake has three prior convictions and is known to frequent the Ewa Beach area.

She’s described as 5-feet 3-inches tall, 150 pounds with brown hair and brown eyes.
