HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - For the first time in 23 years the Iolani Girls Basketball team are state champs.
No. 1 Iolani clinched the DI title for the first time since 1996 after taking down Kamehameha 52-49 at the Stan Sheriff Cenetr over the weekend.
Senior Kalina Obrey scored 24 points and 10 rebounds to lead Iolani to victory, but the game will be remembered more for its ending than the game itself.
Kamehameha heaved up a last second three that would have tied the game and sent it to overtime, but the clock had run out just milliseconds before the ball was released.
With the controversial end to the game behind them, the Raiders joined us on Sunrise to talk about the close game with Kamehameha in the title game and about the season.
