Farrington edges out Kaiser, 56-43, to win OIA DII title
HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - Farrington High School pulled away from Kaiser High in the OIA DII Boy’s Basketball Championship Wednesday night, taking down the Cougars 56-43.
Led by Raefe McEnroe’s 18-point, 13-rebound double-double, Farrington captured its first DII title 2011.
“I feel terrific right now,” McEnroe said. “I’m on top of the world now. On top of the world.”
After 13 lead changes in the first three quarters of platy, the Governors took control over the last few minutes of play thanks to a dagger three-pointer from Felcris Ahadian that all but sealed the win, pushing Farrington ahead by double-digits.
The win over the Cougars was sweet revenge for the Govs, who lost to Kaiser 62-53 during the regular season.
“It’s a good payback to them,” said head coach Steve Leopoldo. “I told them that we made a lot of mistakes back then at their place, so it’s time for us to focus and finish the job … it’s all for them.”
