HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - Gov. David Ige has extended a statewide emergency proclamation in the battle against homelessness.

He signed a supplemental proclamation that extends the relief period for homelessness until April 13, 2019.

During the emergency relief period, funds are freed to accelerate the completion of housing projects for homeless individuals and families.

Services to the homeless can also be expanded to help get people off the streets and into transitional shelters.
