HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - Ever since The Colbert Report left Comedy Central in 2014, the cable network has struggled to find a steady ratings replacement. Word is that David Spade will try his hand at a new late night program following The Daily Show with Trevor Noah. The new David Spade talk show will go in a different direction with “signature take on the pop culture news of the day.” Back in 2005-2007 Spade was the host of a weekly comedy series poking fun at various headlines from that week’s entertainment news.

Reel News Hawaii posted yesterday that they got a report from a Captain of a Delta Airlines flight, that David Spade arrived “Safe and Sound” in the islands Monday. The new Adam Sandler-Produced Netflix film “The Wrong Missy” looks like it’s being filmed here in Hawaii and David Spade is the star. Not even 24 hours later and fan pics have been showing up on Instagram!

Na Hoku Hanohano Award winner and Ukulele Extraordinare Taimane is out traveling the world; her latest stop: Jerusalem. She posted this video of her with a drummer on the street; she says the drummer is raising money for his medical studies. Taimane was also recently featured on television in the UK with Martin Clunes’ new documentary “Islands of America”. Later this year she will be playing SXSW in Austin, Texas!

Na Hoku Hanohano Award winning group Na Palapalai just finished up a photoshoot on Hawaii Island as they get ready for their new release. They flew back on Sunday and are back in studios where their camp reports they are now 75% finished with their recording process. “Back To The Patch” is a 2 CD set that is set to be released the week of the Merrie Monarch Festival.

Kupaoa reports that they will have new music coming up this spring. These photos are part of their photoshoot just completed for the new release. Kellen and Lihau Paik are Na Hoku Hanohano award winners from Kauai.
