HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - A Kauai woman who has been missing for a week was found alive Thursday in a densely-vegetated ravine behind homes in Kalaheo.
She’d lost 30 pounds and was very dehydrated, but was otherwise OK.
Police said they were called to Kakela Makai Drive on Thursday morning after a resident described hearing what sounded like a woman crying for help.
Shortly afterward, the missing woman ― 40-year-old Emi Oka ― was found stranded in a ravine.
Firefighters were called and, with the help of good Samaritans, were able to safely guide her out.
Erin Trask was among the first to reach the missing woman.
“She was in really thick grass,” Trask said. "It was hard to see and her white dress was brown and she just blended in."
