City council receives list of nominations for interim appointee to open seat

HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - While the Honolulu City Council District 4 seat remains vacant, a special election is in the works to settle the dispute between Trevor Ozawa and Tommy Waters.

In the meantime, council members are tasked with selecting an interim representative for the East Oahu neighborhood.

On Friday, the city council received the full list of nominations for the temporary position. The names include:

  • David Frankel
  • Katherine Henski
  • Natalie Iwasa
  • Barbara Marumoto
  • Michelle Matson
  • David Moskowitz
  • Jeff Merz
  • Trevor Ozawa
  • Kahi Pacarro
  • Nicola G. Perez
  • Yvonne Perry
  • Sam Slom
  • Emmanuel Tipon
  • Rich Turbin
  • Marc Witter
  • Randall Yee

Acting as the legislative committee, the eight current members of the council are set to meet Monday to hear testimony on the nominations and come to a final vote Tuesday.

Whoever is appointed will hold the position until the special election in April.
