DLNR to open controlled goat hunting opportunity in Na Pali Coast park
HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) -A lottery for a rare hunting opportunity on Kauai is coming up.
The Department of Land and Natural Resources is opening a special session from April to August to track down feral goats in the Na Pali Coast State Wilderness Park.
Applications need to be entered in the lottery are due by Feb. 28.
An application fee of $5 per hunter will be charged. Hunters must apply with a group of three hunters and up to three assistants, the DLNR said. Winners will be chosen on March 8.
In addition to a valid hunting license, applicants are required to be able to swim 200 yards in the ocean and hike steep loose terrain.
The area open to hunting will be called Nualolo Kai. Not all applicants will be granted the special access.
