HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - State health inspectors have issued a yellow placard to an upscale steak house at Trump International Hotel in Waikiki after finding a number of serious violations.

After an inspection last week, BLT Steak was initially issued a red placard and told to cease operations.

That was in part because inspectors found a floor drain backing up, creating a pool of water 4 feet in diameter that cooks were splashing through as they walked around the kitchen.

Management quickly unclogged the drain and sanitized the area so the state Health Department said a yellow placard was issued in its place.

BLT Steak serves dishes that can top $50.

But inspectors found a number of serious health violations at the eatery, including that there weren’t adequate hand-washing facilities for employees and food surfaces were properly sanitized.

Inspectors also spotted other maintenance issues, including leaks and missing ceiling tiles.

A follow-up inspection is set for Monday.
