HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - The University of Hawai’i Wahine basketball team notched their most convincing win of the season over Cal Poly Thursday night winning 71-54.
The 17 point win is the biggest margin of victory this season and the Wahine’s 71 points were just seven shy of their season-high.
The Mustangs would mount a comeback effort in the third quarter coming within 51-45 with five minutes remaining in the frame, but a 7-0 run by the Wahine to end the quarter would eventually prove to be too much for the Mustangs to overcome.
Junior guard Courtney Middap was red hot for the Wahine scoring 15 points in the game and going an impressive 3-of-5 from beyond the arc and Tia Kanoa added 14 points and seven rebounds.
The win now propels the Wahine to 6-11 for the season.
Hawai’i will next be in action against UC Santa Barbara at 2 p.m. this Saturday.
