HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - The hit reality TV show “American Idol” is coming to Hawaii this month.

The singing competition will be filming its top 40 rounds on Oahu.

It’s to coincide with Lionel Richie’s upcoming performances at the Neal S. Blaisdell Arena on Friday and Saturday.

Richie is a judge on “American Idol,” and will be appearing alongside fellow judges Katy Perry and Luke Bryan (who also performed at the Blaisdell last year).

Richie’s concerts this month will mark his first appearance in Hawaii in more than a decade.
