HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - The third annual Polynesian Bowl was won by Team Makai tonight by a score of 27-7 at Aloha Stadium.
Featuring 100 of the best high school football players in the country, it just so happened to be the local boys from Punahou School made the most significant impacts on the night.
Defensive backs Kaulana Makaula and Marist Liufau each had interceptions on the night while wide receiver Tamatoa Falatea opened up the scoring on the night with a great individual catch-and-run down the sideline.
The Offensive MVP Award was awarded to Puka Nacua of Team Makai, who arguably had the play of the game with a beautiful touchdown catch in the corner of the end zone.
The Defensive MVP Award was awarded to Daniel Heimuli of Team Mauka, who gave the Team Makai backfield headaches all night long.
The 2019 Polynesian Bowl will be rebroadcast tomorrow night on KGMB at 6 p.m. HT.
